MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - For the sixth consecutive year, Hy-Vee is working to raise money for veteran programs through its Homefront initiative.
Up to now, Homefront has raised more than $1.4 million. Hy-Vee's corporate annually matches a donation of $100,000. Money raised goes toward organizations that serve our nation's military, veterans and their families. Organizations include the Puppy Jake Foundation, Operation First Response, Hope for the Warriors and the American Red Cross.
Hy-Vee is commemorating Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 12 by offering a free breakfast to all veterans and active-duty members. The grocery store expects to serve breakfast to more than 90,000 people on Monday.
In addition to the Veterans Day breakfast, Hy-Vee gives shoppers a donation opportunity when checking out. Customers have the option to round up their total to the nearest dollar and donate the excess to Hy-Vee's Round Up program. This money goes to veterans' organizations as well. Shoppers can donate through the Round Up program until Nov. 18.
