Hy-Vee recalls frozen fried rice

Hy-Vee is recalling two of its frozen fried rice products due to possible contamination with listeria. 

Hy-Vee, Inc., based in West Des Moines, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling its frozen Hy-Vee Vegetable Fried Rice and frozen Hy-Vee Chicken Fried Rice.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Hy-Vee is recalling two of its frozen fried rice products due to possible contamination with listeria.

No illnesses have been reported, but the potential for contamination was discovered after Hy-Vee's supplier, Ajinomoto Windsor, announced they were recalling specific frozen foods.

The recall involves both the vegetable fried rice and the chicken fried rice with a "use by" date of Nov. 5, 2017 or earlier.

The products were sold at stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin between July 24, 2014, and May 12, 2016.

If you have this product in your home, you should discard it or return it to your local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.

The frozen Hy-Vee Vegetable Fried Rice being recalled was sold in 1-lb. bags with the UPC number 000007545012530.

The frozen Hy-Vee Chicken Fried Rice being recalled was sold in 1-lb. bags with the UPC number 0075450125290.
