ST PAUL, Minn. — A local organization that focuses on urging us all to get out there and volunteer is celebrating a major milestone.
Hands On Twin Cities turns 100 years old this year.
The organization acts as the middle man between people looking to volunteer and the 300 non-profits that need them.
Hands On Twin Cities also partners with a number of corporations to create things like capes that will eventually end up with patients at a children's hospital.
Executive Director Tracy Nielsen says they're seeing more and more people wanting to use their skills for a good cause.
"I feel like in today's society people often feel like, what can I really do to make a difference? We might be overwhelmed." Hands On Twin Cities Executive Director Tracy Nielsen said. "What we try to do here at Hands On Twin Cities is make it really easy to connect your passion to things that might just be a one time volunteer opportunity to an ongoing opportunity that can really make you feel empowered to make a difference."
To mark the anniversary, the company launched a website where you can submit your own story about volunteering and read others' stories as well. The website is called 100yearsofvolunteers.com.
Hands On Twin Cities is also hosting some events to celebrate it's centenary
On December 12, 2019, a 100 Years of Volunteers event will be held at the Aria in Minneapolis.
