1 dead in Farmington house fire

Firefighters arrived to find the only person in the home was deceased.

FARMINGTON, Minn. — Farmington fire crews have confirmed that one person is dead following a house fire overnight Monday. 

The fire chief said engines arrived and crew members found the basement of a home on the 5300 block of Upper 182nd St. ablaze. Firefighters immediately began putting water on the fire but flames eventually jumped to the upper floor of the home. 

Firefighters launched a search and eventually located one person inside who was dead. 

Fire officials said they believe nobody else was inside the house at the time of the incident. The building has been boarded up while investigators try and determine a cause for the fatal fire.
