CHANHASSEN, Minn. — A recent trip to Cub Foods turned into a major payday for one lucky lottery player.

The Minnesota Lottery said a $1 million winning Powerball ticket for the Dec. 7 drawing was sold at the grocery store's Chanhassen location at 7900 Market Blvd.

The ticket matched the first five numbers: 6-28-44-59-61. The Powerball was 21.

For selling the winning ticket, the Cub Foods location will receive a $5,000 bonus.

Minnesota's newest millionaire joins a growing list of recent $1 million winners. Including the Dec. 7 winner, four $1 million Powerball prizes have been won in the state so far in 2022. Fellow winning tickets were sold at a Kwik Trip in Hinckley and at two different Holiday gas stations in Duluth.

The Powerball jackpot has grown to an estimated $116 million for the Saturday, Dec. 10 drawing – a nice chunk of change, though it pales in comparison to the massive $2 billion jackpot that sent the country into a lottery frenzy in November.

If the numbers on your ticket match the winning numbers, you can claim your prize at the Minnesota Lottery headquarters in Roseville. Winners can remain anonymous.
