COLERAINE, Minn. — One teen is dead and another was airlifted from the scene after they were struck by a vehicle while walking on Highway 169 in Itasca County.
According to Minnesota State Patrol it happened Monday at about 1:25 p.m. in Coleraine, at Milepost 309.
The driver of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a 14- and 13-year-old who were walking south on Highway 169, officials said. A 14-year-old died from their injuries while a 13-year-old was airlifted to a Duluth hospital. State Patrol described the 13-year-old's injuries as "non-life threatening."
State Patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
