DANBURY, Wis. — Two people died and a third person was hurt after a crash in western Wisconsin on Saturday. Authorities are investigating, but say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office said in a press release the crash happened Saturday around 2 a.m., on Bass Lake Road in Oakland Township, south of Danbury. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and authorities said it appears the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, identified as Layne W. Leitner, 25, of Bloomington, and front passenger, Kyle R. Orloske, 34, of White Bear Lake, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to law enforcement.

A third person in the vehicle was not identified. Officials said they were trapped and had to be extricated before being taken from the scene via Air Care.
