The State Patrol says a semi struck several vehicles stopped in construction zone traffic Wednesday afternoon.

FLOODWOOD, Minn. — Four people are dead and three others injured following a violent crash in a construction zone near Floodwood in northern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that three cars and a semi were stopped on State Highway 2 near Nelson Rd.  around 3 p.m. due to construction in Arrowhead Township when a second semi plowed into the stopped vehicles at highway speed.

Four people riding in a Honda Pilot were killed. On Thursday the State Patrol website identified them as 65-year-old Vincent Louis Dow; 66-year-old Bonnie Mae Dow; 9-year-old Hope Mae Oakgrove; and 9-year-old Charlotte White, all of Blackduck.

An 84-year-old woman riding in another vehicle and the driver of the semi suffered non-life-threatening injuries, as did the driver of the International semi that struck the other vehicles.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
