MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis fire crews put out flames at a three-story apartment building early Monday morning.
Engines were dispatched to the 2700 block of Bloomington Ave. S. just after 2:30 a.m. and upon arrival, fire crews discovered flames jumping from the rear window of a first-floor apartment. Firefighters entered the building and evacuated several remaining residents while other crew members forced entry to the unit that was burning.
Water lines were quickly laid and the fire was knocked down. Minneapolis Fire Department called a Metro Transit bus to the scene to shelter residents, and Red Cross was asked to assist tenants who lost their housing.
Board-up crews will secure the impacted parts of the building while investigators search for a cause. No injuries were reported.
