PLYMOUTH, Minnesota — On July 23, 2016, Taylor Hayden was shot and killed in Atlanta.
And though it was three years ago friends and family will not let her memory fade. They gathered on Tuesday for the third annual balloon release in Taylor's memory.
The 25-year-old Hayden, from Minnesota, was enjoying a girl's vacation when two groups of people started shooting at each other outside of an Atlanta club. Police say Hayden, who had no part in the altercation, was caught in the crossfire.
Hayden's brother, Senator Jeff Hayden of Minneapolis, has since used the memory of the tragedy to work toward legislation to prevent gun violence.
At the balloon release in Plymouth, on the count of three, the crowd said Taylor's name - or the name of someone they loved.
