NEW AUBURN, Minn. — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating what they're calling a "use-of-force" incident that left one person dead in New Auburn.
In a tweet posted Thursday morning, the BCA said a "subject was shot and killed," but did not include any other details about the circumstances around the shooting.
According to a press release from the Sibley County Sheriff's Office, deputies were responding to a welfare check Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m. at a home on the 8200 block of Third Street in New Auburn.
The release went on to say that law enforcement remained on scene for more than 10 hours before they were involved in "a situation where force was used which resulted in the death of an adult male at the same residence."
New Auburn, located a little more than an hour southwest of the Twin Cities, has about 500 residents.
This is a developing story. KARE 11 will provide more details as new information becomes available.
