Officials investigating after man shot by police in Chanhassen

The deputies allegedly gave the man vocal commands to drop the knife before they both fired their guns, striking the man several times, according to officials.

CHANHASSEN, Minn. — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating after a man was shot by deputies from the Carver County Sheriff's Office. 

The man approached the deputies with a knife in his hands, according to the sheriff's office. 

Deputies from the sheriff's office were called to the 7800 block of Harvest Lane shortly after 2 p.m. for a domestic related incident, according to a release. 

Upon arrival, the deputies were meeting with the complainant, when the male suspect exited the residence and approached the officers with knife, said the sheriff's office. 

The deputies allegedly gave the man vocal commands to drop the knife before they both fired their guns, striking the man several times, according to the sheriff's office.

According to the office, the man was transported to Hennepin Healthcare and his current condition is unknown.
