BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Police are investigating after a woman called 911 to report she had shot a man on Saturday.

According to information from Brooklyn Park police, officers were called to the 7900 block of Kyle Avenue around 5:15 on Saturday by a woman saying she had shot a man. Police said the injured man was reported leaving the area.

Officers were close by, officials said, and found the shooting victim as he drove away, but the man fled from officers as they attempted to stop his vehicle.

Police said he was driving to a different location in the 8100 block of Xenia Court. Officers reported the man was seriously injured but continued to ignore officers and would not cooperate.

Police said in a press release that they learned the man may have a gun. Officials said they negotiated with him and they were safely able to offer medical aid.

The man was eventually placed under arrest for outstanding felony warrants plus new charges from the incident, including DUI, Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.

The woman was cooperative with officers, police said, and was taken to the Brooklyn Park Police Department for questioning.

Officials said the circumstances around this incident are still under investigation.
