BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — Police in Brooklyn Center are trying to determine the sequence of events that led to a fall from an apartment window that claimed the life of a toddler.
Squads were dispatched to the Lux Apartment on the 6100 block of Summit Drive just before 10:45 a.m. Saturday after someone called 911 to report a fall. When officers arrived, they discovered a 3-year-old child had fallen out of an eighth-floor window to the ground below.
First responders immediately attempted lifesaving measures but the toddler was ultimately pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives interviewed members of the young victim's family and others on the scene as they attempt to determine what led to the fatal fall. Brooklyn Center PD is working on the case with the Hennepin County Crime Lab and Medical Examiner's Office.
