One shot at YMCA in Coon Rapids

The 16-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital where officials said he is expected to survive his injuries.

COON RAPIDS, Minn. — A teen was taken to the hospital after being shot Friday night at a YMCA in Coon Rapids.

Coon Rapids Police say they were called to the facility on the 8900 block of Springbrook Drive Northwest in a report of gunshots being fired. When officers arrived, they found one person who had been shot.

On Saturday afternoon, police said a person outside the YMCA fired shots into the building, striking one victim, a 16-year-old male.

He was treated at the hospital for his injury and is expected to survive, police said.

No arrests have been made but police say they don't believe the shooting was random.
