Former Hudson teacher enters plea to charges of having relationship with 5th grade student

The former teacher is accused of texting the 11-year-old about how much she enjoyed the child touching her and the pair "making out."

HUDSON, Wis — A former western Wisconsin teacher is pleading not guilty after being accused of having a relationship with one of her fifth-grade students.

Madison Bergmann is charged with 10 felonies, including first-degree sexual assault of a person under the age of 13. Bergmann was arrested and charged in early May after the principal of River Crest Elementary called Hudson police to report possible inappropriate conduct between the teacher and student.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators were shown screenshots of a text conversation between Bergmann and the boy, with her talking about how much she enjoyed the child touching her and the pair "making out."

Court records show not guilty pleas were entered on all 10 counts Monday. Motions have also been filed by Bergmann's lawyers to suppress certain evidence, and to dismiss the first four counts due to "insufficient evidence to support the information," court records state. A motion hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19.
