MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis officials are asking residents to avoid an area on the city's north side after discovering a water main break Monday night.
According to the city of Minneapolis, crews are responding to the "major break" in the area of North 2nd Street between North 26th and Lowry Avenues.
Officials are asking people to avoid driving and walking in the area.
Late Monday night, the city tweeted out an update, saying that properties within a 1/3 mile radius of 29th Avenue North and 2nd Street North were still seeing disruptions.
Twitter user @ButcherSalt posted a video of the break Monday night:
Just before 9 p.m. on Monday, the city of Minneapolis sent out an update, saying, "As crews work to isolate the breakage near 29th Avenue N and North 2nd Street, water pressure around the city should begin improving. The water outside this immediate area is safe to drink and cook with."
This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
