DELANO, Minn. — Another annual celebration of winter is being cut short because of this year’s unusually warm winter.
Organizers of The Ice Palace Minnesota in Delano said Saturday, Jan. 27 will be the final day that guests can visit the castle, just one week after opening for the season on Jan. 21.
“This winter has certainly been an adventure - one we hoped would last a little longer, but we are thankful for the time we've had in Delano and everyone who worked tirelessly to make it happen,” Anna Smith, general manager at the Ice Palace Minnesota, said in a statement. “We received a small window of winter wonderland this year and we plan to make the best of it. We hope to welcome as many people as possible this weekend to celebrate with us.”
The palace was originally scheduled to remain open through late February. Organizers say guests with tickets for dates after Saturday can receive a refund or use their pass next season.
