DULUTH, Minn. — A multi-day effort to locate a missing Duluth man ended Tuesday after his body was located in the Pokegema River.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department said the remains of 43-year-old Ryan Lahti were retrieved from the river about 11 days after he was last seen. According to a press release from the sheriff's office, Lahti went missing on June 8 after escaping a traffic stop and running into a wooded area in the village of Superior, Wisconsin.

Authorities said K9 officers, aerial drones and thermal imaging were deployed to assist in preliminary searches but were unsuccessful.

On June 14, Lahti's family reported he was still missing. Four days later, a search party comprised of sheriff's detectives and Lahti's loved ones located his body partially submerged in the river.

Lahti's official cause of death has not yet been determined. More information will be released pending an autopsy.
