WEST ST PAUL, Minn. — It was a cold morning for fire crews in West St. Paul as they battled both a house fire and the coldest temps and windchills of the season.
Engines were dispatched to the 900 block of Charlton Street just after 6:30 a.m. on reports of a house on fire. A firefighter on scene tells KARE 11 that one resident managed to escape from the home after it started on fire. That person was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Fire Chief Mark Juelfs says his department has responded to two additional fires at the same residence in recent weeks, and that the home had been deemed uninhabitable.
At this point all three fires remain under investigation.
From the outside damage did not appear to be significant, but a closer look revealed the interior was charred and black from smoke.
