One person is recovering from minor smoke inhalation after fire tore through a home in south Minneapolis early Friday.
Minneapolis Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner says crews were dispatched to the home on the 3700 block of 18th Ave. S. around 4 a.m. after the single resident awoke to a smoke alarm blaring. That resident managed to escape, but the fire was already too far gone to save the two-story structure.
The resident was treated on the scene and released. Six rigs and a team of firefighters stayed on the scene for approximately two hours as the flames were put down.
Tyner says the property is uninhabitable, and considered a total loss.
