NELSON, Minnesota — A central Minnesota bar and restaurant was deemed a "complete loss" after a fire tore through the building Monday morning, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
In a press release Monday evening, the sheriff's office said it received several 911 calls reporting the fire at Corral Saloon & Eatery in Nelson, Minnesota, beginning around 10:45 a.m. When deputies arrived, the release said, they encountered heavy smoke and flames and asked for assistance from Osakis Fire Department crews.
After OFD responded to the scene, aid from the Alexandria, Carlos and Forada Fire Departments, as well as the State Fire Marshal, was also requested to help knock down the flames.
OFD Chief Craig Dropik told KARE 11 the restaurant is considered a complete loss, adding the building adjacent to Corral, Nelson Off-Sale, is still standing but was heavily damaged.
Dropik said neither Corral nor Nelson Off-Sale were open at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The sheriff's office says authorities will try to determine the source of the fire within the coming days.
