MINNEAPOLIS — Two firefighters were transported to the hospital after a three-alarm house fire Saturday in the Lowry Hill neighborhood in south Minneapolis.

The Minneapolis Fire Department (MFD) said the firefighters didn't suffer any serious injuries, but were being evaluated at the hospital.

One of the firefighters was separated from his crew and began to run low on air supply. He was able to escape via a 2nd story window after his crew members used an aerial ladder to help get him down, MFD says.

Authorities say that they arrived at the house on the 1800 block of Dupont Ave. South around 10:30 a.m. and that nobody was inside the house when they got to the scene. They were able to put the fire out within two hours.

Firefighters did not say what caused the fire, but believe it was started in the walls, before it traveled to the 3rd floor and roof. MFD also says contractors were working in the building at the time of the fire.

This is an ongoing investigation.
