Rising floodwater prompts Valleyfair to close 3 rides

Parking restrictions also start Wednesday and will continue "until the flooding has receded."

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — The rising Minnesota River will limit some of the fun at Valleyfair in Shakopee in the coming days.

The amusement park announced on its website that "due to significant flooding," it will temporarily shut down three rides located inside the park's "flood zone," including Excalibur, Thunder Canyon and Renegade.

Valleyfair's other attractions remain open, as park officials say "the vast majority" of the property is located above the current projected crest of the Minnesota River.

However, flooding is also affecting parking lots at Valleyfair. Guests are advised to park at the overflow lot at nearby Canterbury Park and utilize a shuttle to Valleyfair; guests can also park at the Southbridge Crossings and Eagle Creek Park and Ride Stations. Parking at Valleyfair itself is only available in its overflow lot for "four-wheel drive vehicles with adequate clearance" in the unpaved, grassy area.

The parking restrictions begin Wednesday, June 26 and will continue "until the flooding has receded."

More information can be found on the Valleyfair website.
