STILLWATER, Minn. — After family and friends spent the holiday weekend searching for 20-year-old George Musser, Stillwater Police confirmed his body was located in Baytown Township on Sunday night.
"I am heartbroken to share that the police have found his body. We are trusting the Lord during this horrific time that he has guided George into Heaven. Please pray for our family," Musser's cousin Emily Dalbec said in a Facebook post.
Stillwater Police Chief Brian Mueller also thanked the community for their help. More than 100 people came out on Christmas Day to search for the missing man.
Police first shared Musser was missing on Saturday, Dec. 24. He had last been seen at Brian's Bar in downtown Stillwater early that morning.
On Christmas Day, Musser's cousin Emily organized a search for the University of Wisconsin - River Falls student.
"Thank you to everyone who searched, shared, and prayed," she wrote on Facebook after Musser's body was found. "We are forever grateful for your support."
A GoFundMe account created to help the family pay for funeral costs and other expenses has raised more than $32,000 as of Monday morning.
A candlelight vigil "to honor the incredible life of George Musser" will be held at 7 p.m. in front of the Stillwater Lift Bridge on Monday, Dec. 26.
