ST PAUL, Minn. — A person was struck and killed by a light rail train Tuesday afternoon, according to Metro Transit officials.
A spokesperson with Metro Transit police told KARE 11 the victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, near the intersection of University Avenue and Syndicate Street North in St. Paul.
The incident happened along a METRO Green Line train route around 3:30 p.m.
Metro Transit said buses have been deployed to replace trains between Fairview and Western Avenue stations until the scene is cleared.
The person who was killed has not yet been identified.
