PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Just under six months ago, Dr. Brad Johnson had an experience that changed his life - and nearly ended it.
The Plymouth surgeon was hiking with friends in northern Wyoming when he was charged by two grizzly bears. He was holding bear spray, but couldn't get the cap off in time.
The bears attacked him.
While he was being mauled, and in the long hours waiting for rescue, Johnson was certain he was going to die. Two friends went for help, while the third stayed by his side. Johnson asked him to record some last words on video for his family.
But six months later, Johnson is alive and back at work. For the first time, he is sharing his story - including the lessons he learned about life, death, family, faith - and what's really important.
KARE 11's Lou Raguse has that story, Monday night at 10 p.m.
