MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man pleaded guilty to detonating a homemade explosive device at a hair salon in 2022.

Michael Allen Francisco, 59, was charged for the blast that damaged the interior and exterior of Studio 411, a hair salon in Minneapolis' Bryn Mawr neighborhood.

About a year after the explosion, Francisco was seen on surveillance video throwing a rock through the window, court documents said. Prosecutors said DNA collected from the rock and other items later connected Francisco to both incidents. A search warrant was conducted this past March on his home where law enforcement found explosive components.

Francisco pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of malicious use of explosive materials to damage and destroy, by means of fire and explosives, a Minneapolis-based property engaged in interstate commerce by means of an explosive device.
