MINNEAPOLIS — Police said that a woman died in Minneapolis Friday night after a truck struck her in an intersection in the Powderhorn neighborhood.
Officers were called to the intersection near East Lake Street and 13th Avenue South around 9:33 p.m. Friday night on a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian, according to a press release.
When police arrived, they found an injured woman in her 50s. She was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman died at the hospital.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release her name and cause of death in the coming days.
Police believe the woman was struck by a white pickup truck on East Lake Street. The truck then fled the scene and police said it was headed south on 13th Avenue South.
Minneapolis police said they are investigating the incident and have not made any arrests as of Saturday afternoon.
