Holiday concert is "Giving Voice" to those with Alzheimer's or other dementia

Medical studies have long shown the benefit of music when it comes to a person’s memory and emotional and physical health.

EDINA, Minn. — It’s a concert – and a community – that gives voice to those living with a cruel disease.

On Friday, hundreds of people gathered at Meetinghouse Church in Edina for the Giving Voice, Crosstown, holiday concert. The chorus – which is comprised of those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementia, their caregivers and other supporters – entertained the audience with classic songs, show tunes and Christmas carols. And at the same time, the concert served as a beautiful opportunity to connect as an extended Alzheimer’s and other dementia community.

KARE 11’s Karla Hult, a fierce Alzheimer’s and other dementia family advocate and founder of So Many Goodbyes, also spoke at the event.
