MILACA, Minn. — An investigation is underway after an inmate at the Mille Lacs County Jail died on Friday.
According to a press release from Sheriff Kyle A. Burton, Robert James Sam, 57, of Omamia, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant earlier this week.
Burton said that Sam was "found unresponsive" Friday. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Burton did not give any other details about what happened to Sam, adding the cause of death is pending a toxicology report and investigation.
