ST. PAUL, Minn. - Jay Cooke State Park will remain closed until further notice due to severe flood damage to Highway 210 according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The highway is impassable because of mudslides and large washed-out sections. Damage to the campgrounds and buildings is minimal, but the bridge over the St. Louis River is severely damaged and water and sewer service are unavailable.
There are other sites affected by the flood damage including Savanna Portage State Park. Itis available for day use and campground, guesthouse and camper cabins will re-open on June 28.
The campground at Moose Lake State Park has fully re-opened.
Willard Munger State Trail remains closed from Carlton to Duluth until further notice.
The mountain bike trails and Miner's Mountain Road in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area remain closed until further notice, but the campground has been re-opened.
The Soo Line and Blind Lake ATV trails in Aitkin County are closed until further notice, as are many other off-highway vehicle trails and public water accesses in the area.
All other Minnesota state parks along the North Shore including Gooseberry Falls State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, Tettegouche State Park and five others are open.
