Thousands of job openings available for State Fair

Need a temporary job? Applications are now open for the Minnesota State Fair.

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minnesota — People are what make the Great Minnesota Get Together happen, and the fair is hiring thousands of workers.

The Minnesota State Fair hires about 3,000 people throughout the summer to work in various departments for the 12-day event. Jobs include ticket sellers, ticket takers, parking and park & ride attendants, rides & games ticket takers, barn attendants, custodians and more, according to a press release.

Perks include free admission to the fair which goes from Aug. 22 through Sept. 2.

If you're interested in applying, people are encouraged to go to the Employment Center. There is also a job fair taking place at the North End Event Center on Wed. July 24, from 4 to 7 p.m.

State Fair officials encourage people to register online ahead of the event. Resumes are not needed and interviews will occur on the spot.

Jobs are open to anyone age 16 or older, and most jobs do not require prior experience, the State Fair press release said.

There are also numerous volunteer opportunities that come with free gate admissions. Volunteers are needed for exhibits like Alphabet Forest, The Common Table, EquiMania!™, Kemps Little Farm Hands and Math On-A-Stick, the press release said. More details on volunteering can be found here
