Maple Grove event gives new meaning to 'senior prom'

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — A “National Day of Joy” event gave new meaning to the term, “senior prom.”

On Wednesday, more than a hundred senior citizens gathered at the Maple Grove Community Center for the prom-like celebration, which came complete with dancing, lemonade and a prom king and queen. Organizers said the event – and the overall pursuit of joy – is critical for everyone and, especially, our beloved seniors.

“We know with seniors they will live longer and have a better quality of life, if they have a little joy and a little positivity in their life every day. So we want to pause on this ‘National Day of Joy’ and really recognize that and celebrate it,” said Jennifer Bauernfeind, the owner of Comfort Keepers.
