1881 by Lake Elmo Inn opens in St. Paul's Union Depot

Chef John Schiltz joined KARE 11 Saturday to share a preview of their menu.

ST PAUL, Minn — Award-winning restauranteurs behind one of Minnesota's most iconic dining establishments, the Lake Elmo Inn, have opened a new restaurant at the Union Depot in downtown St. Paul.

Owners Chef John and Christine Schiltz and their team launched 1881 by Lake Elmo Inn on Thursday, August 8.

It's open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch, happy hour and dinner.

The name "1881" pays homage to the year both the original Union Depot and Lake Elmo Inn opened, reflecting the historical connection of the two operations.

The menu includes favorites from the flagship restaurant along with exclusive new offerings and a special kids' menu.

The restaurant also features a full bar featuring an extensive wine list and craft cocktails including The Bee's Knees, a signature gin drink with Bee Line Honey. The honey is harvested from the hives on the rooftop of the Union Depot.
