Warm up with the 2022 Global Soup Cook-Off

The competition at Midtown Global Market benefits Open Arms, which provides food and medicine to critically ill people in need.

MINNEAPOLIS — Wintertime is soup season, so why not see who makes the best?

Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis is hosting its 2022 Global Soup Cook-Off on Saturday, Dec. 17 from noon to 2 p.m.

The event features several Midtown Global Market restaurants competing with their best custom soup influenced by a variety of flavors and cuisines from around the world.

"Some of the soups will include the Indigenous Food Lab’s Pozole (meat and hominy), The Kitchen’s cabbage soup, Arepa Bar's Crema de Auyama (butternut squash, cream, mozzarella cheese, fresh herbs), and Soul to Soul’s smoked brisket and barley soup," Midtown Global Market announced in a news release.

Guests can sign up to receive a set of 12 three-ounce samples from each of the competitors. Samples will be sold for a suggested donation of $20 to benefit Open Arms, an organization that provides food and medicine to critically ill people in need in Minnesota.

There will be 150 soup sampling sets available, so early arrival is suggested.

Guests will vote on their favorites, with awards going to the top three soups.
