MINNEAPOLIS — A brother-sister team has brought their family business to the next level.
Rana Kamal and Khalid Ansari grew up in their dad's restaurant Mediterranean Cruise Cafe in Burnsville. When they decided to go out on their own it only made sense to name it Baba's Hummus -- Baba is father in Arabic.
Their hummus has been a big hit at the Minnesota State Fair and is sold at hundreds of grocery stores in 15 states.
Last summer they opened a manufacturing facility and café off Lyndale Ave. in Minneapolis called Baba's Hummus House & Mana'eesh Bakery.
Khalid Ansari stopped by KARE 11 Saturday to talk about their business and share a recipe.
