DULUTH, Minn — The city of Duluth has plenty of holiday spirit to share with visitors in the days and weeks leading up to Christmas. The city is known for a number of festive activities during the month of December, including the famous Bentleyville Tour of Lights.
Here's a look at a few of the events happening in Duluth this month:
America's largest free walk-through Christmas light display features more than five million lights, along with free hot cocoa and other treats for visitors. Open nightly starting at 5 p.m. through Dec. 26.
Take a tour of the historic mansion and check out numerous trees and decorations. Guests can also participate in a scavenger hunt, scouting for 25 elves hidden around the mansion's 35 rooms. Admission to the indoor tour runs from $8 to $32. Tours are open daily from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Spirit of the Lights outdoor display on the Glensheen grounds is free and open to the public.
The North Shore Scenic Railroad treats visitors to a 30-minute train ride along Lake Superior with special performances, readings and carolers. Tickets are $25 to $42, with trains running Friday, Saturday and Sundays through Dec. 18.
