Kava craze comes to Minnesota

The drink is becoming more popular with Kava cafes and bars popping up all over the country.

MINNEAPOLIS — Kava is a drink or extract made from the Piper methysticum plant. In the South Pacific, it's a drink that is used in ceremonies for relaxation, according to WebMD.

The drink is becoming more popular with Kava cafes and bars popping up all over the country. In 2012 there were just 40 kava bars in the U.S. and today there are over 400.

Logan Fleischman, Owner of Zero Proof NA Beverage House, joined KARE 11 Saturday to talk about kava and share a "kocktail" recipe.
