ST PAUL, Minn. — An Irish pro soccer team is coming to Minnesota to kick the ball around with our hometown team and to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Minnesota United is playing St. Patrick's Athletic in an international friendly match at Allianz Field on March 20.
"It is a great and unique opportunity for St Patrick's Athletic to test our squad against Minnesota United.," said St Patrick's Athletic General Manager Anthony Delaney in a release. "There is a big Irish-American community locally and we will be in town for St Patrick's Day and with the fixture occurring a few days later, this will no doubt add to the occasion."
Former Minnesota Viking, Chad Greenway is an investor in St. Patrick's Athletic. Greenway and St. Patrick's Athletic's Director, Ger O’Brien, joined KARE 11 Saturday to discuss the upcoming game.
