RECIPE: Seasonal fruit crisp

Pie is a Thanksgiving dessert staple, but why not try something different this year...how about a cobbler?

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — FILLING:

4–5 peeled and sliced fruit (apples, peaches, or 6 cups of other fruit) 1/4 cup sugar

3 T flour

Squeeze of lemon

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground cardamom

Toss together in a bowl.

Place in a buttered square 8 x 8 baking dish.

TOPPING:

3/4 cup rolled oats

3/4 cup brown sugar

6 T cubed cold butter

2/3 cup flour

1/4 tsp kosher salt

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Pinch of ground nutmeg or cardamom

Mix above with your hands until crumly but sticks together (looks like pea gravel). Sprinkle over fruit add a few extra pats of butter on top before putting into the oven.

Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes, until it is bubbly and top is golden. Serve warm with ice cream.
