PRINCETON, Minn. — Give to the Max Day celebrates its 15th anniversary on Thursday, November 16.
If you donate, your money could be going to help nine puppies recently rescued by Ruff Start, an animal rescue in Princeton, Minnesota.
Azure Davis of Ruff Start Rescue, stopped by KARE 11 Saturday to talk about Give to the Max Day and the nine puppies going up for adoption.
Last month, the puppies' mother, Lala, was found in Minneapolis wandering the streets. Lala was in rough shape with scabs and puncture wounds all over her body. All that -- and she was also VERY pregnant.
Lala was picked up and arrived at the home of a Ruff Start Rescue foster volunteer just three days before giving birth to her nine puppies. Here's where things get a little complicated. Lala did not want to nurse her pups or be with them at all. Volunteers with Ruff Start Rescue believe she went through so much trauma in her life that transitioning to motherhood just wasn't possible.
That's where the volunteers at Ruff Start Rescue helped out by bottle-feeding all nine puppies and bringing Lala to a different home to heal.
