CHASKA, Minn — It's been a long, strange, often gray winter trip so far. Fortunately, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska is in bloom now through March 10 with exhibits and vignettes focused on flowers and green plants.
This year's show is a celebration of spring with a nod to the Arboretum's history. Why history? The Snyder Building (which opened in 1974) is turning 50 years old and the Arboretum is celebrating with a supersize botanical birthday cake and posters about the intriguing history of the Arb.
In the Great Hall, there will be fabulous one-of-a-kind vignettes, including a Woodland Wall filled with orchids, a whimsical arch of baskets that reach two stories high, and whimsical fabric-wrapped trees surrounded by blooming plants, lush green foliage, and -- of course -- flowers.
Visitors can also explore creative and surprising displays of succulents, terrariums, houseplants, and tropical orchids, especially in the conservatory where hundreds of orchid blossoms await.
In the Eatery cafe, window boxes beckon with dense plantings of blooms and history panels that share the history of the Arboretum and its gardens.
