BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — MEA weekend means no school, and families getting out of town for their last vacation before winter arrives.
The weekend is typically among the busiest at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
On Thursday, TSA expects to screen 41,500 people.On a typical day it screens 36,000.
Anticipating a busy time, TSA says it's fully staffed and crews are working overtime, but the agency is urging travelers to arrive at the airport two hours before their flight leaves.
At Terminal 1, both security lines are open to all passengers. .
These are the busiest times for security:
- 6am-10am
- 11am-Noon
- 3pm-6pm
- 10pm-11pm
Parking fills up quickly, but you can pre-book.
All you have to do is find parking online, pre-pay, and when you arrive at the airport, scan the QR code on your confirmation receipt and park in the first open spot.
The airport is also hosting fun activities for families.
