Investigators reconstruct the scene where a 7th grader was struck and killed while biking to school in Eagan Friday.

EAGAN, Minn. — Diffley Road in Eagan is a busy four-lane road. The speed limit is 45 miles per hour, and it has three schools off it. For years, parents say they knew it has been dangerous and have pushed for changes.

That debate may now be more fierce than ever after the death of an Eagan student. Patric Vitek, 13, was hit and killed by a driver while riding his bike to school this month.

Tuesday night, local lawmakers held a community forum to hear from parents and talk about options for improvements along that road. Transportation experts also made a presentation, including one from the state's Safe Routes to School program.
