BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Local professional wrestling company F1rst Wrestling is coming back to the Mall of America.
F1rst is set to hold its third annual Saturday Night Nitro this weekend on Sept. 7, featuring local and international superstars clashing in the ring.
Arik Cannon, who owns the company, says when it comes to wrestling and MOA… the two have a storied history.
“In 1995, WCW produced their very first episode of Monday night nitro right here in the rotunda,” Arik says. “And that that was a very important piece of professional wrestling at it was becoming a popular thing in the 90s”
Cannon says the atmosphere is unlike anything else.
“There’s four levels of fans… it’s pretty intense. It’s a very surreal thing to stand in the ring and look out and see not just a crowd on the main floor, but all the way to the top.”
Limited tickets for the big card are still available.
F1rst is preparing for those big, passionate crowds, reflecting the inclusivity Cannon's company preaches.
“For those fans who don’t know who we are yet, I think that is important that they know that they’re welcome. Our fans will welcome you. We will welcome you. We want people to know that this is for everyone,” the promoter insists.
Before the wrestlers hit the canvas, KARE 11 Sunrise anchor Jason Hackett - known around the newsroom as a HUGE wrestling fan - got a chance to test out the ring, and learn some devastating new moves.
