MINNEAPOLIS — Hollywood is celebrating 80 years of trips down the yellow brick road and clicking ruby slippers that remind us "there's no place like home."
On Wednesday, the City of Dreams will honor the 1939 classic with a pop-up art spectacle, perfect for snapping that magical selfie. A giant Ruby Slipper will sit in front of the famed Madame Tussauds wax museum.
A similar stunt was hosted in New York back in 2010 for the movie's 75th anniversary. But this time, it's just going to be one giant pump!
As the film steps back into the spotlight, it's worth an update to the caper centered around those famous shoes.
A pair of the film's ruby red slippers disappeared back in 2005 from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the actress' hometown.
In 2018, FBI investigators found the shoes in an undercover sting in Minneapolis.
So far there have been no official charges in the case, and according to the Grand Rapids police department this remains an active investigation with the FBI.
