Ice bars, street snowboarding heading to St. Paul

If you're looking for something... unusual... to do this weekend, head to the Capital City for a variety of winter-themed events.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Brrrr... with temps dropping into the 30s this weekend, St. Paul is taking back winter.

People are hard at work Friday morning carving and assembling 10 ice bars throughout the city's downtown and West 7th neighborhoods.

The Capital City Ice Bars are located outside mainstays such as The Pillbox Tavern, Wrestaurant at the Palace, Loon Cafe and more. Check the website at this link for locations.

For easy transportation, the Blue Line light rail can get you to each location in a mile-long stretch.

If drinks aren't your thing, just drive five minutes to the Capitol building. The Red Bull Heavy Metal is a single-day street snowboard contest that will feature some of the best shredders in the world.

The event runs from 2-6 p.m. on Feb. 10. Viewing is free.
