MINNEAPOLIS — If you're packing up and heading out for Spring Break, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) urges you to get to the airport AT LEAST two hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
According to the TSA, 47,000 people are expected to go through security at MSP Airport on Friday, which would be the busiest travel day of the season, but officials warn the airport will be busy through Monday.
The peak Spring Break travel season at MSP Airport this year is between Feb. 28 and Mar. 29.
In that period, the three busiest days are projected to be March 15, 21 and 22.
Parking in ramps on the airport grounds is reaching capacity, so MSP asks that you check its availability before you travel.
"Keep in mind, too, that airlines are routinely boarding the plane 40 minutes prior to departure so early arrival is critical," said Lorie Dankers, Spokeswoman & Public Affairs Manager for TSA.
Dankers notes that security checkpoints will be fully staffed and TSA officers will be working overtime during this busy travel period. Canines are also working at security checkpoints as well.
