WeatherMinds: Geomagnetic storm may reveal Northern Lights

The Northern Lights may be visible Friday and Saturday nights.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — A storm warning to watch out for this morning.

Not rain or snow - but a solar wind shock wave.

A large hole in the sun's atmosphere facing towards Earth will treat people in the northern states to a special light show this weekend.

NOAA forecasters say there's a chance of a moderately strong G2 class geomagnetic storm, starting on Sept. 28.

The last storm like this produced auroras visible to many north of the metro, and scientists are confident it may happen again over the next few days. Luckily, the forecast calls for clear skies!
